I don't own a car for many of the reasons here (could afford one), but it makes no sense for me to own a $30,000 object, that for 80% of its lifespan sits parked..I made a conscious decision to live where i live so that i didn't have to impoverish myself both in housing or transportation..in many cases it's about 'choices'...people should try to make better choices.
