Bar ends or new handlebars?

I picked up a 2014 Trek 7.4 FX (will post pictures when the weather improves). I rode the bike just a few miles the past couple of weeks. Spring is not quite here yet and while I layered up to try some "cold weather" riding, my hands managed to painfully freeze up quickly. However, I absolutely love the bike - what a difference! I asked the LBS to swap out the tires with Conti 700 x 25 Gatorskins. I also installed the Shimano dual sided pedals, other than this the bike is stock.

The 7.4 came with ISOZone grips and handlebar. While I prefer Ergon grips, I would have to change the handlebar. I am not sure yet that I want to do that. The other option I have is to use bar ends with the Bontrager adapters.

Your thoughts on this?
