I have a escape city that I never felt quite right on. Hands constantly numb. I added Ergon grips and an adjustable stem.I recently purchased a Fuji road bike. The things I learned on the road bike have helped me set up the Giant to be more comfortable. I lowered/lengthened the stem and that made me reach further. I realized that my gloves were too tight, and I can't strap an arm band on too tight.

Right now I am riding the Giant more than the Fuji.

On yesterday's ride I noticed that my current handle bars have my hands wider than my shoulders. I have joint pain in both shoulders.


I am thinking about putting shorter/narrower handle bars on.

Is there anything I need to be concerned about? Could I be compromising the steering or causing any other problem? Thanks.
