I have started looking into some of the GPS cycling computers. I am not really interested in training features. I mostly want it for directions, mapping and routes. I am considering using it to mix up some of my typical routes and to ride in unfamiliar areas. Any thoughts on which might be best for those types of uses? Cost is a concern and there is no need to spend on features that I will not use.

I have been considering the Magellan (315?) and some have suggested that the Garmin touring might serve my purpose. I have read a lot of the available info, but I know that the software seems to change regularly, so perhaps someone can offer thoughts based on the current offerings.
