Which is all a long way of saying, it's not entirely clear that a wider tire is less likely to have a flat than a narrower tire. Put the same pressure in them, my money's on the narrow tire. Air them up so that each has the same deflection, I can't say one way or the other.

Yep, I tend to get more flats (or pick up more debris in my rear tire) on the wide tires rather than the skinny ones. I'm not sure if it is because it is wider, because of different riding style, or just that a big knobby front tire is more likely to throw up sharp objects into the path of the rear tire
