I have a T1 and like it a lot, although improved interior channeling for airflow and increased battery life would be even better. For my typical trips of 15-20mins, though, the T1 is great. I'll probably jump in on the T2 launch, though, anyway, and pass along the T1 to my young daughter; the idea is really cool, the design is great, and for urban riding I think it's a fantastic addition head and tail lights, though I admit I sometimes go without those since getting the T1, not that I endorse it, but for short trips in particular conditions, it's a measure of security that really easy to grab and go with.
