Looks good for you but there were a few reasons I went this route:


Cheap - I already had most of what I needed to build this.
Aesthetics - I know many would disagree with me but I like the look of this over wire baskets or panniers.
Custom fit - this fits exactly what I take to work with me on my commute.
Ease of theft - Not sure how the quick connects work on your setup but I want to be able to lock my bike and not worry about someone removing it. I definitely don't think I would be able to do that with panniers. Right now it's bolted down but I may make some kind of lockable quick connect setup. Not sure yet.
