I opted for the non shield version. The shield is great if you're racing/time trialing but for regular club rides there doesn't seem to be much of a point. Fignon was one of the fastest riders in the TdF and he wore glasses no problem for the entirety of each race, no visor or goggles.
If you do get the shield get a headband to go with it, because wiping sweat off your brow will take a couple extra steps without it.
