I like outside of Buffalo, Ny. I have not heard anything about a bike co-op, but I also haven't been looking. I would like to use my bike for summer transportation to and from work, 3 miles each way with one hill. I haven't been able to really test the light yet, it seems to be powered by the tire rotation (not sure what that would be called). I hope to fix the light. There is also an odometer on the front wheel that does not work. I plan to keep it on for aesthetics.
Are parts fairly universal? I want to do a fair amount of the work myself, not because of money, just sweat equity! I think I will take it to be tuned, after I replace the tires, tubes, and breaks. Another beginner question: are there instructions online to teach me how to shift? I can't remember owning a bike with this kind of shifter before.
It doesn't bother me that the bike doesn't have monetary value. It is weird, it is almost like a "soul thing". I planned on buying a bike this spring. I was looking for a new mountain bike with a light frame, shocks, and in a classic/man's shape. This bike is used, classic/vintage/old, stiff frame, street style, and woman's. I love the color, the light, and the seat. It is odd how these things happen!
