Hi David,
Funny thing, I worked at Maplewood Bicycle (suburb of St.Louis) from '80 - '84, back when it was still owned by Rich Morris. I have lots of good memories of those days and my years in the St.Louis area.
I have ridden parts of the Katy Trail but never the whole thing; still have that on my list of rides to do.
You have made great progress in your ten years of return to cycling, congratulations
