i forgot to update and said i got fenders over the wknd. so i will ride in the rain as long as it's not pouring.
today was my first day cycling with cycliq's fly6 light/camera combo. just got it in yesterday. posted pics in electronics subforum. hope this thing works! excited to see what vid i pull off of it later.
while yesterday and today were nice commutes, the traffic issues were enormous. not for me b/c i'm cycling but i still had to navigate and wonder what the hell is going on here?
so yesterday morning there was a ton of traffic in lower manhattan just south of the brooklyn bridge. i had to get to the east side bike path to bike to work b/c the small streets were at a standstill on pearl street and fulton street.
this morning there was a ton of traffic in brooklyn. cars and trucks and buses lined up on Jay street, going no where. also two cyclers bothered me today. one passed me and immediately went slowly which slowed me down. then blocked me from passing him. i was truly annoyed. then saw him blow thru every light we encountered, only to have me catch up to him and pass him. he finally exited my path by cycling onto a sidewalk, then go the opposite way on Altantic Ave, notably one of the most deadliest streets in NYC. wtf. so, guy in bright neon yellow jacket on a bike with an old rack on it, i do not like you as probably many people on the road! you don't own the road and you'll probably succumb to your fate one day.
also some guy tearing down brooklyn bridge at the 'old fulton sprint' while i was ascending it. he was too close for comfort going way too fast. at least give me some more clearance if you're going to do that, random fast guy! too many of these fast guys this past week (way too fast on the descent). i saw one yest (one on manhattan bride during my afternoon ride) and one today. they're nearly suicidal.
