DIY tubeless road bike

I have a spare front wheel, size 700c x 23. I also have some Caffe Latex lying around with a few spare tubes and tires.

I plan on making a tubeless wheel this way:

1) Strip wheel of tube and tire.

2) Add layer of rim tape. There exists some plastic rim tape on the wheel but it shifts around a bit and another layer can't hurt.

3) Cut up the old tube. I'm going to cut the tube around the valve stem area and stick it into the wheel. It'll be taped down with rim tape.

4) Install tire. This is not a tubeless specific tire. It is however an amazingly tight fit on the rim.

5) Inflate with high pressure compressor at local bike shop. The compressor can fill tires within seconds. Examine tire for leaks. If the leaks are slow, I'll keep going. If the tire just doesn't pump up then I'll consider aborting.

6) Given that the tire inflates without any rapid leaks, I'll pump in some Caffe Latex and reinflate the tire.

Does this sound like a recipe for success?
