It isn't easy to completely inspect a bicycle, it's boring and tedious. I like washing my bicycle as a way to get in close and look the bike over. I setup my work stand in the backyard, mount my bike and go over it carefully. It might not be a bad idea to remove the front (and rear) wheel and wash and inspect it separately.
