Getting onto a regular bike and getting into better shape is a great idea, but for many folks a 40 mile ride is A LOT of training away... Your idea of getting onto an electric bike for a little help is right on track! I used an electric bike to replace my car for short commutes and eventually moved onto a mix of regular/ electric depending on the day. The great thing is when I need to look good and not sweat(here in Phoenix it gets HOT) I just jump on the electric bike and only pedal a little if at all- I arrive refreshed and sweat free. Look around and shop for your electric bike, the use of throttle and pedal assist is most desirable for most people-the trek only has pedal assist. With the throttle you can make the bike go, then pedal as much as you are able to help it.
Our Kinetic Mountain bike is great for keeping up with friends/family. You only work as hard as you want to.
They are a ripoff! I payed $800 for a bike that started falling apart on the way home. I had to go around it and tighten bolts and screws. It came with defective batteries. THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THEM. (another $245) The battery charger sold with them is supose to shut itself off, they dont, thus over charging and destroying the batteries. The metal they are made out of is of inferior quality,
LATEST UPDATE! brake light stoped working,flashing light on rear stoped working,right turn signal stoped working,rear sprocket is grinding during coasting,battery box is splitting apart AND 1 of 4 battery led is falling out.. All this in the 1st year...OH yes people BUYER BEWARE!! (wonder if theres a lemon law for these???)
hybikes are the same bike with different cosmetics. search the web you will find complaints on both. they are all over craigslist selling with different contact info. one ad even says japan made. they are china made!
