I would ride it until you are able to get a proper replacement which sounds like you will be doing soon.

I would look at something like the Velocity NoBS or Atlas as a replacement over another Mavic, some of those were notorious for cracking, especially if using thicker gauge spokes or tensions on the high side of things or even simply under a lot of weight. The touring world has seen a lot of these rims not hold like promised.
