I made my own luggage, a squarish box which fit both wheels and full grouppo, minus the frame and fork.
The box is very heavy duty cardboard covered with black ripstop nylon fabric, It looks like a piece of luggage.
I have two BMC nearly-identical road frames one in Europe and stateside but only one wheel set and grouppo. I was able to check this homemade suitcase as my only checked in baggage and paid zero to fly with it.
This way i saved $$$ on the airline fees to ship a bike and I was pretty mobile with my case and small roller case luggage until I made it to my destination and built up my bike. Crazy but it worked well took some time to build up and adjust everything perfectly. I plan on doing this every year and leaving bits over there in Europe at my friends place until I have two full bikes in each place, maybe minus the crank and pedals. I left a stem, seat post and saddle there along with the water bottle cages. Everything else must be brought. This year I am thinking of leaving a wheel set since that along with the frame is what really takes up space. But this allows me to "grow" a grouppo as finances allow and with ideal component choice. Full Campy Record btw..thats why it's taking so long!
