I don't always feel like putting my Saris bike rack in the trunk when I take my bike somewhere to ride. But it can be removed, intact, from the car without damaging the rack (or the car). I wouldn't leave it on the car in a high traffic area, like downtown, but I did today in a fairly deserted neighborhood park. Got me to wondering - how often are these things stolen? I realize it's a matter of chance, and the only completely safe way to keep it is to store it in the trunk - but are there bike rack gangs out there trolling the streets looking for racks to swipe?
