I don't generally wash my chain. It gets cleaned during lubrication, and that's enough.

When I need to scrub my cassette and chainrings, I use dish detergent. I find it cleans better than many of the so called degreasers out there. I've used mineral spirit in the past, but I now live at a place where the pure form isn't readily available. When I absolutely need a hydrocarbon based solvent, I use WD-40.
