The problem is that even if they open more factories in Detroit the workers would still need to ride their bikes to work as they probably wouldn't be able to afford the car.. or if they can then they wouldn't be able to afford the insurance. I think the recession has made people more aware of if they maintain their existing car properly they don't need a new one every 2 to 4 years. I don't know that they are falling out of love with the car but they are definitely not replacing them like disposable items that they seemed to be before the recession.
What clueless "people" are you talking about that were "unaware" that they don't need a new car every 2 to 4 years if only they properly maintained it?
