It can be done though. That's how it's set up on my mountain bike - a beside-the-cage mount like any other pump.

P.S. I have the road morph, not the mountain morph, not sure if it makes a difference. I think they're the same length but the mountain morph is a little thicker.
I just got a road morph g pump and wanted to mount it besides the water bottle cage but couldn't do that with the mount that came with the pump. I looked in my box of spare parts and found what I was looking for - it came with the older Topeak Master Blaster (or something like that) mini pump I bought about 5 years ago.
