PS: Yes, I have ridden in Illinois, but along the Mississippi where the organisers of that particular 24H TT found some rather steep even if shortish hills.
It's flat here but not totally. We are along the Illinois River valley and have quite a bit of rolling land. Even the flats tend to roll a little. We don't have to travel far to find super flat if we want but the reverse is true, also.
BTW, after the corn gets up, we can't see so far and don't feel so bad. We also have instant bathroom convenience.
