Comments: Rode and completed the epic Belgian Waffle Ride/race put on by Spy optics. Great event, hard event. There wasn't any long sustained climbs just a crap ton of shorter and steep enough to keep checking you cog to see if you have one more gear to give. NOPE (39x28granny). I ended up crashing in mile 92 in a deep sand pit section, was following a wheel and she spit up a curved rut, my front wheel dove into the rut and steered the bike into the chain link fence @ 18mph. Somehow I managed to use my hand to push away from the fence w/o breaking a finger and belly flopped on the sand pit. At least it was soft landing LOL. Bike was covered in sand. Washed off my hands with the water bottle, checked the wheels and kept going. when I got to the road. Both shifters were not really working, they had sand all up in the Ds. few miles later at the sag, I sprayed water into the Ds and shifters and worked the grit out. Seems to be good. The chainlube I put on the night before really works wonders. The last couple climbs, one was nicknamed "donkey punch" was VERY appropriate. Remote dirt road, pot holes the size of semi truck tires and 12-20% grade. Mile 126 near the top was the oasis women in bikinis and men in board shorts handing out cokes, beers, and margaritas

I think I'll be back next year for some more pain and waffles...wait does that mean I have to train again? crap..
