Nope. Chain checkers are quick, rulers are more accurate. You're doing it right - use the chain checker for frequent checks - no need to use the ruler until you get multiple chain checker readings over 0.75%. Then you can use the ruler until you get 12-1/16" to get the max life out of your chain.
I'm confused, isn't .75% elongation (12.09")
more than 12-1/16th (12.0625")?
