Bikes: 2015 Trek Domane 4.3, 1989 Schwinn Circuit, 2010 Yeti ASR 5, '80 Vitus 979 (being refurb'd)

This is what the damaged locknut looks like (but has "Stronglight" instead of "Superbe").



Questions:

Is my steerer tube "French threaded"? Is that something I have to specify in a replacement headset? (Steerer tube IS labeled "Made in France," so maybe that's the answer to my question?

Since this is a Superbe lock nut would it work.

I'm a little shocked that the locknut alone is $40.00. I don't think the value of the bike would support replacing the whole thing???
