Now that I've taken-up cycling, and see what I am capable of (of consistently being able to cover substantial distances, in all weather, except ice and snow), I'm wishing that I would have gone car-light when I lived in the suburbs. All those wasted years; I could have stayed in-shape; saved a lot of money; had a lot of fun. Here in the sticks, I maintain two trucks- as they're a necessity- buti guess I could still be considered car-light, 'cause I only drive, on average, once a week- or, less than 3000 miles a year (Which is less than I ride).
But yeah...the average person has no idea, unless they're into riding.... Once they get the idea, I'm sure many, like myself, regret the lost opportunity. Just the health benefits alone.... so worth it!
