I can see a CL seller wanting to explain why an item is for sale. If the reason is of the "necessity" sort it might even imply that the seller is letting it go for less than it might be worth. Still, if is in place of real detail, then it is a distraction.
I browse CL but don't buy much of anything. Almost always the ad for anything I'd be tempted to buy gives nowhere near the kind of info I'd like to have. Ebay ads are the same way. It tells you what the seller thinks is important but really shows how little the seller understands. That can be a worthwhile statement about the item too.
