Santiago Creek trail

I have been nursing a torn MCL for the last six weeks, not really doing a good job as I still had to work, just dragging my leg behind me as I trudged all day laboring for my dollar. At six weeks the intense pain had subsided but I am dealing with a nice solid ache that seems omnipresent and really steps up after sitting for a while. My first re-hab ride was an easy flat ten mile pedal. Next was similar and of course the knee ached after. After getting my legs back under control on the bike, you kind of lose that easy cadence we all enjoy, I stepped up to the plate on my normal 30 mile ride with some hills. I got a pleasant surprise. Part of this ride is on the Santiago Creel trail and it looks like it got some love. This trail had so many root bumps that they had painted over them so you could zig zag along and avoid some of them. They came in and patched all the bad spots. It is so nice to be able to ride this trail and not be root bumped to death. It got so bad I would sometimes battle the cars on the road rather than take the beating. So if any of you have quit riding this trail because of the poor shape, you can return and take this trail from Main Place Mall all the way to Katella/Canon. From there it is an up hill run to Irvine park and beyond. Enjoy now because those roots never stop and will be back in no time.....
