How big of a difference between a CAAD8 and 10?

Aside from slight geo/weight differences? If I were to swap in 105 or upper parts and a good wheelset, would it still be a "lower" frame on the CAAD hierarchy?

I know the 10 is race, would that make the 8 more of a "regular" road bike?
