Sure, no problem. So I tried this out yesterday and judging from my point of view (which may mean nothing at all), most of the light hit the grass and I was still able to see in front of me because the end of that wide beam hit the trail. Wasn't able to see perfectly and obviously not as well as I would had the light been facing straight forward, but it did an okay job of paving the way. It almost looked like the low setting, though with the (potential) benefit of not facing anyone and thus blinding them.

Two things, though: 1) If I needed to do this, which I don't, I'd get a different light. I don't really see a point in spending so much for something if you're never going to use it the way it was intended to be used. I'm sure there are better alternatives out there that'll achieve similar results and are probably less expensive than the NR. 2) I didn't have anyone with me, so I don't know how much of the light (though surely not all of it) anyone would have been able to see. Meaning, I'm not sure how much (if any) of that beam that gave light to the trail can be seen by people/riders passing by. I mean even catching a 1/4 glimpse of this thing probably won't be their favorite part of the day, so if I get a chance, I'll ride with someone and have them tell me how much it affects them.

Well, keep in mind that I have nothing to compare it to and that it's my first bike light, so take what I say with a very small grain of salt.

I'm not sure what you mean by "quality of the light", if what you ask is not with regard to the amount of light it puts out. Do you mean how well it lights up certain areas and doesn't have (what are they called?) "black spots"?

As for the color, having only had a chance to ride twice so far, I wasn't too thrilled with it during my first ride. I changed my mind a bit during the second ride, but even then, I was still surprised by the color. I mean I know nothing about bike lights and so I expected a completely white output, but it seems to have an overall blue hue? I wouldn't mind if it was a bit more white. It's not that you can't see with this color (you can), but I would think that the trail would be more visible and the path and surrounding areas more clear if it was white. But I guess it's subjective and simply boils down to each rider and what color they prefer.

That said, the color thing is a small nit I'm picking here, only because you asked, but otherwise, I don't think it would really affect me to the point of mentioning it. I think it's a great light and I'm pretty impressed with it. The reviews didn't let me down and I'm very happy with my purchase. "I don't really need it, but I'm glad I have it" about sums up my opinion of the 1800, color and all.

Anyway, if you need me to clarify anything or if you have any other questions, let me know.
