Can confirm this works. I run Dura Ace 10-speed DT shifters (SL-7900) on Paul thumbies. Shifting is hilariously good, even with a beat-up low-end Acera RD. Front shifting especially (105 derailleur/FD-CX50 crank) is better than STI-indexed shifting on 105 5700 or 5800 setups.
Paul recommends using DT shifters with flat washers ("for Al frames") as opposed to curved washers ("for steel frames").
I'm excited to read your confirmation of what I've heard. I've taken the plunge with 7900 shifters but all still "in the mail". Can't wait!
