This is what I expect. He was thinking about it totally the wrong way. For starters, the challenge in riding 168 miles in a day is in understanding and managing your body, not the physical aspect. That's why people way older than him do it all the time. But he wouldn't have the experience to see the million small things that would totally hose him.

For all we know, you made it. But my money is that you wound up getting rescued sick and/or in pain a long distance from your goal. No worries, you'll recover and do better next time. Just remember, "experience" is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted...
