I live in a coastal area with high humidity. The very thin plating on inexpensive bolts can quickly show signs of rust.
My latest response is to use "turtle wax chrome polish" on a Q tip. This has a very fine abrasive for removal of rust bleed thru via pores in the chrome cover and deposits a layer of protective wax. Other brands are similar.

My favorite bike cleaner used to windex (really a generic glass cleaner). HOWEVER, at the suggestion of a forum member I now use AUTO SPRAY WAX. This has a light cleaner (remove those corrosives) and wax. Again laying down a think layer of protectant. I still use windex on rims.

The corroded spokes are beyond my expertise. I have stainless spokes on all my bikes. If you have wheels with non-stainless spokes and they are breaking. You could gain durability and reduce weight by upgrading to hand built wheels.

You may want to take pictures and add detail in a new thread about your spoke breakage issue to get a more informed opinion from some of the pro-mechanics who hang out here.
