I'm also planning a ride from Tacoma, Washington to Boulder, Colorado. I don't know if I'll have the cash to fit it into 2015 though. But I'd love suggestions on a route from Washington to Colorado!
In 2013, I took the following route (
Epilogue | A bicycle ride across Africa), cycling from Portland to Fort Collins:
- Started off riding down the Oregon Coast, hard to beat that ride, though I did end up with a fair amount of rain
- Cut inland just past the CA border and then across via Grant's Pass, Ashland and Tulelake
- Came across corner of CA and then via Cedarville NV, Gerlach and Fernley
- Took US 50, across NV, another fun ride
- After US 50, from Delta UT and then to Price, UT. Wanted to swing down via Moab, but a little too hot so came into CO via US 40 and CO 14
