I just googled the model name you gave and looked at the pictures. It looks like a pretty standard department store mountain style bike with a plastic chainguard. You might be able to find a replacement, it's unlikely though.
It shouldn't affect anything if you remove it, although if it was assembled at the department store it's not uncommon for them to rely on the plastic chainguard to keep the chain on instead of a proper adjustment of the derailleur. It's worth making sure it doesn't over-shift with the guard removed.
