I only ride in the safest possible conditions and only off road if I'm going over the legal speed limit of 28 mph. Sounds to me like you're better off sticking to your scooter lest you break a hip! Safety first! To be honest, my 700c Hybrid does start feeling a bit sketchy at 35+. Between the wind and the spindly wheels, it can get... exciting. I tend to keep it under 30 for the most part. Not so much because of the width of the wheels as the height. 26 inch rims seem to be much better suited for higher speeds. Less flexion.
