Where are you at? If you are in the US, all you need is a contact in the military. You can get your Halfway RS out of Japan for almost the same price as if you were there (I actually had someone ready to buy mine for original price + US$50.00).
I was a little disappointed with Giant's Customer service, but the LBS + Giant's Marketing Department made me change my mind with time. I am really happy now and not planning on trading my bike (as I were I while back).
