Yeah, I hear ya. "Rough Grooved Surface" is horrible to ride on, I've done many a mile on the stuff. Swapping your tires was a good move, as is running a lower PSI.
The good news is once the work is done the road will be way smoother than before!
Yeah, last year they resurfaced a road that I use for lots of my weekend rides... It sucked while they were doing it, but today, it's smooth as glass
