I haven't ridden Davis since 2013, but the years I have ridden it, I've wondered what the role of those corner workers were. I've never seen them stopping traffic to let a group roll through, and I don't think they have the authority (and doubt the DBC would encourage it) to encourage/imply cyclists can ignore the stop signs even when there is no cross traffic. So are they there to make sure the riders don't miss the turns? All the times I have ridden Davis, the morning pacelines have blown through the stop signs, and only if there is a CHP parked at the corner is there a half-assed attempt made to stop. I've been at the tail end of a long paceline, that the front probably safely blew the intersection, but the tail end was very at risk.

Anyways, RIP to the rider.
