I had a spare moment so I grabbed the luggage scale, went out and weighed some of the family bikes.
2002 Specialized Hardrock Sport, with 1.5" Nimbus tires, plus bell and 2 water cages. The trailer tug. 32 lb
(The trailer frequently attached is listed at 26 lb and probably weighs total 60 lb GLOW
2015 Raleigh Route 4.0, wife's new bike, no modifications. 35 lb
1972/3 Schwinn Super Sport plus rack, U-lock, bag, lights, non original wheels and freewheel, and a MTB saddle instead of OE Brooks. My daily commuter. 37 lb
1998 Cannondale XR800, a work in progress. 24 lb. I could shave maybe up to 3 lb with a light wheelset and thinner tires, maybe another via stem, bars, post, etc.

"Well, well!" said Holmes, impatiently. "A good cyclist does not need a high road. The moor is intersected with paths and the moon is at the full."
