This is the part where I don't follow the reasoning. The skills that you're talking about are pretty obvious, but to my mind this part is wrong. Parochial. Different cycling events require different skills. One of those skills is pack riding, which is useful for a couple of variations of the sport but certainly not all of them, nor even for the majority of them.
