Here's a shot of my 10 year old on his new bike. He is pretty comfortable in the drops.

Our training route has several agressive climbs. Neither of my boys can shift on climbs since the shifters (twist revos) are so close to the stem. They need to stay wide on the hoods to have control.

This leaves them in whatever gear they hit the climbs on and is the main reason I want dual-control levers for them.

The narrow stays and cheap screw on cassettes really limit my options, so I have decided to just get the cheapest "brifters" for these bikes and no worry about re-using them on the bikes I'm going to build them.

Thanks so much for all of the inputs. I will be ordering two sets of the Tourney levers today.

EDIT: Just followed CliffordK's link and ordered the Soras from Bikewagon.com. The unused OEM parts were cheaper than most Ebay auctions on used levers. Thanks CliffordK.
