Kids can be rough on stuff... but I doubt they tip the scales over 100 lbs.... or is it 100 lbs combined? I.E. Perhaps half the weight of an adult rider.

If treated with care, the axles should outlast several kids.

The steel used in solid axles may be lower quality than that used in QR axles, the hollow axles may actually be stronger.
