I spent all morning tromping around cemeteries for my wife. Someone with access to ancestors.com provided her with a link to her great, great, great grandparents location and it turns out that hey are buried in a cemetery where we often regroup on our rides. Finding their tombstones was easy since it's a small cemetery. Can't believe that we've ridden by there a zillion times and didn't know it.
So, one link turned in to another and I located her great, great grandparents in another cemetery about 7 miles from us. Amazing how one little clue is all it takes.
I've done a good amount of family genealogy and it's quite a thrill to find key records that fill in blanks in the family tree.
It was equally thrilling to discover the tombstone of my 3rd great grandfather, and quite a surprise since I was looking for one of my great uncles, one of
his kids, at the time.
