I'm inclined to say it seems a bit overpriced, curious to hear your thoughts. Also, not sure why it has frame shifters, looking at the Trek archive that treebound posted, it doesn't seem like any of the 520's in the recent past had anything other than bar end shifters...
Hello, just curious if you looked at that re-painted 520, and if so then what did you think of it? Helps all of us by comparing our long distance assumptions against someone's first-hand viewing.

Earlier today I saw a decent looking smaller frame 520 from the 1990's on ebay posted by a small shop guy in Madison Wisconsin with free shipping. Looked like it was probably stock, maybe had a second-choice rear rack, otherwise 3x7 gearing which should be tweakable to work for you.

Anyway, just curious and following along as you search for a cross-country touring bike.
