Handling wise I think it comes down to personal preference. I have 90mm stems on both my road bikes and like the level of responsiveness that gives. Others I know say that they like 110mm and that 90mm is "too twitchy". That also happens to be the stem size that gives me the correct reach, so good. How short are you thinking of going?
