I almost hit two big bucks on a fast downhill on the road. I had to slam on the brakes to miss them. I have seen a lot of animals at night. I realized that they listen for cars and cross the road/trail/bikepath when there are no car/motorized vehicle/human/predator noises, if I'm there on my bike they don't understand the light without the noise. If I say something they react very differently, they take off instantly. If I don't say anything most animals just slowly walk across without any rush.
