I get that. After carrying a cell phone 24/7 for business, I started considering it a leash. When friends asked me why I started scuba diving, my pat answer was "no phones below 30 feet", and there was an element of truth to that. As soon as I was able I chucked the phone and went without for almost 10 years. I now have one, but few people have the number, and my voice mail greeting says not to bother leaving a message unless I'm expecting your call.

So I consider the cell phone something I carry for MY convenience only, and rarely use it since I'm adapted to living without some of the convenience it would afford. OTOH if/when I felt it was useful, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
