The crossrip has a longer wheelbase, a little more trail, and a longer head tube. I would say that the geometry of the crossrip is meant to give you a little more stability than the caad at the price of agility. Whether this would actually make any difference to you in practice is unknown, it's not like the differences are very big. I'm thinking you can't go wrong either way.

Assuming these are coming from different dealers, you could play one against the other to see who will give you the best price, throw in extras, etc.

I've always liked the look of Cannondales. More so in the 80's when they were the only bikes with big tubes and upright geometry. Even now you can plainly see much less slope to the top tube of the CAADX than the LTD. This should be fine as long as you get fitted properly. FWIW.
Thanks guys, both very helpful. The stability I can see being nice on my long ride days, while the agility I can see being nice in transversing the hectic city or trails-not-much-travelled through the woods. But like you said, the differences are probably minute enough where it'd probably not be too noticeable.

Time to pit these LBSs against each other.
