i got my separated shoulder in a judo class at the age of 28, and it took a good 5-6 years before I could use it like normal with no pain. I get the impression you are somewhat beyond that age, so it could take a little longer to get back to normal. My worst crash occurred just a couple months ago. I tripped over a speed bump and whiplashed my head onto the pavement. It bounced like a ball, broke the helmet in two places, and I got up and rode on.
