LA 1 is a really pretty road. That said, I've only cycled a few portions of it (and driven almost all of it). Why not contact some of the bike clubs scattered around the state (Baton Rouge Bike Club, Kitsachie bike club, Shreveport bike club, Crescent City cyclists, etc.)? Local knowledge matters a lot here.
